dennis oppenheim
(American 1938 – )
The name Dennis Oppenheim has become synonymous with some of the most exciting and avant-garde contemporary art movements of the last half century. Emerging as a pioneer of Earthworks in the late 1960s, he has pursued an adventurous career in body and performance art, film and video, as well as sculpture and installation. Dennis Oppenheim is in the permanent collections of over 100 major museums worldwide including the Tate Gallery in London, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, LACMA and MOCA in Los Angeles, and the Muse d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
